Inside the Camden Cats Junior AFL Club: The Heart of Footy in Oran Park.

The only AFL club in the Camden region — and a family-first home for kids who want to learn, play, and belong.

Walk past Catherine Park Drive on a Saturday morning and you'll hear it before you see it — boots on grass, parents on the sideline, and a club siren that belongs unmistakably to the Camden Cats Junior AFL Club. Based in Oran Park and proudly the only AFL club serving the Camden region, the Cats have built something rare in junior sport: a club that takes the game seriously without ever forgetting why kids play it in the first place.

One club, every kid, every level

The Cats are one of the largest junior AFL clubs in South-West Sydney, fielding teams across age groups from Auskick all the way through to senior juniors. Boys and girls. First-timers and footy-mad lifers. The brief is the same for everyone: develop your skills, stay active, and find your people.

What sets the club apart isn't a single premiership or a star player — it's the depth of the program. There's a clear pathway from your first kick at Auskick through to junior representative footy, and a culture that backs every kid along the way.

"At the Camden Cats, everyone is part of the family." — Camden Cats JAFC

More than the scoreboard

The Cats are openly committed to growing female participation, building the next generation of players, and creating a space where teamwork and respect come before the result. It's the kind of club where the post-game sausage sizzle matters as much as the four-point game, where coaches know every player's name, and where parents end up volunteering because they actually want to.

Why locals love it

  • Genuine community feel â€” small enough that you matter, big enough to compete

  • Pathways for every player â€” from Auskick to senior juniors, boys and girls

  • Female footy front and centre â€” strong, visible support for girls' teams

  • Local through and through â€” based right here in Oran Park

Get involved

Whether you've got a five-year-old keen to chase a Sherrin or a teenager ready to push themselves at a higher level, the Camden Cats are open to new families year-round. Coaching, volunteering, and supporter spots are also there for parents who want to be part of it.
